Entries shall be limited to 3 submissions per person, with 2 classes of submissions. One for entrants under 18 and one for entrants over 18. All submissions are due by midnight on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Contest Description Rules, Deadline and Ownership of Artwork
The 2021 Workers Art Center poster contest "Solidarity and what it can achieve".
Opens 6:00 pm September 8, 2022.
All submissions are due by midnight on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Selected submissions will be on display on Thursday, December 8, 2022, 6:30-9pm during the December AHA! Night out of the Labor Council Office. We encourage participants to plan on attending the reception and be ready to talk about their artwork.
The winning artwork(s) will be turned into thank you cards and postcards and be distributed throughout the year by the Greater Southeastern MA Labor Council and Workers Art Center.
Submission Classes, One for entrants under 18 and one for entrants over 18.
First Prize: $100 Image of artwork framed and displayed in Workers Art Center
Second Prize: $75 Image of artwork framed and displayed in Workers Art Center
Third Prize: $50 Image of artwork framed and displayed in Workers Art Center
First Prize: $300 and image of artwork will be printed on GSM Labor Council stationary for 2023
Second Prize: $200
Third Prize: $100
Entries shall be limited to 3 submissions per person, with 2 classes of submissions.
Posters must be on or mounted on poster board, and an aspect ratio of 5x7. For example, posters would be 15" x 21" or 900px x 1260px. Artwork may be executed in any 2-dimensional medium (oil, acrylic, markers, pastel, collages, photography, canvas mounted on poster board, etc.) If you need help with this, please let us know. Posters may be created or enhanced digitally, but must begin as an entirely original work of art by the participant, and be printed to the required size for submission.
Posters may be produced individually or in collaboration with other entrants. If produced in collaboration with others, the Entry Form must include all names and required information for all participating entrants.
The Entry Form must be included with each poster and attached to the back of the poster, with the title of the poster, name of the student, their age, their school or organization, (if part of a school) the name of their art teacher or principal, (if they have one) hometown, email address, and importantly, their personal telephone number or that of their parent or guardian.
Note: Each Entry Form must include the signature of the entrant's parent or guardian if they are under the age of eighteen. Posters submitted without all the required information will not be eligible for the contest.
Ownership of Artwork
Ownership of the artwork submitted for the contest will remain with the artist. However, the producer reserves the right to reproduce and publish any and all artwork submitted for this contest, and publish the artist’s name, age, and school for promotional and marketing use.
Posters may be picked up following the announcement of the contest results at The Workers Art Center, 560 Pleasant St, New Bedford, MA 02740 except for the winning entries, finalists, and special award winners, which will be kept for a period of time as part of the Youth Poster Contest Exhibition Tour, and then will be returned to the entrants.

All artwork must be either uploaded electronically via this form or delivered to The Workers Art Center, 560 Pleasant St, New Bedford, MA 02740. Please contact us in advance so we can be there for drop off as we do not keep regular business hours.
